Shopify Subscription to Klaviyo Automation Pack
Keep Klaviyo subscription status in sync with Shopify using two ready-to-import Shopify Flow workflows.
Shopify knows whether a customer has an active, paused or cancelled subscription. This automation pack makes that data usable inside Klaviyo.
Use it to keep customer subscription state accurate, trigger lifecycle journeys, build better segments and avoid relying on manual exports or disconnected subscription data.
What it does
Subscription Created → Klaviyo
When a new active Shopify Subscription Contract is created, the workflow:
- confirms the contract is active;
- identifies the customer;
- sends a
Subscription Createdevent to Klaviyo; - updates the customer’s current subscription state on their Klaviyo profile.
Subscription Status Updated → Klaviyo
When a subscription changes status, the workflow:
- checks whether the contract is active, paused or cancelled;
- checks whether the customer has another active subscription contract;
- updates the customer’s true current subscription state;
- sends the relevant Klaviyo event.
This means cancelling or pausing one contract won’t incorrectly mark someone as unsubscribed if they still have another active contract.
Klaviyo data created
The workflows can create and maintain profile properties including:
has_active_subscriptionhas_ever_subscribedsubscription_statussubscription_contract_idsubscription_product_namesubscription_next_billing_datesubscription_created_atsubscription_updated_atsubscription_frequency
They also send lifecycle events such as:
Subscription CreatedSubscription Status UpdatedSubscription PausedSubscription Cancelled
What you can use this for
- active subscriber segmentation;
- paused subscriber journeys;
- cancellation journeys;
- former subscriber winback;
- replenishment and renewal messaging;
- subscription-specific cross-sell;
- subscriber-only campaigns;
- lifecycle personalisation.
What’s included
Brutish – Subscription Created to Klaviyo.flowBrutish – Subscription Status Updated to Klaviyo.flow
Import both workflows into Shopify Flow, configure your own Klaviyo account details, test and activate.
Built for
Shopify + Shopify Flow + Klaviyo
The workflows are designed around Shopify Subscription Contracts rather than one specific subscription-app vendor.
They are best suited to stores where your subscription app creates and updates Shopify Subscription Contracts.
Setup required
After importing the workflows, you’ll need to:
- Add your Klaviyo Public API Key / Site ID.
- Review the mapped Klaviyo fields.
- Test with your own subscription setup.
- Confirm the events and profile properties are reaching Klaviyo correctly.
- Activate the workflows.
No custom app development is required for the standard setup, but you should be comfortable working inside Shopify Flow and Klaviyo.
Important
These workflows keep subscription data up to date from the point they are activated.
If you already have historical subscribers, you may need a separate backfill to populate existing subscription status in Klaviyo.
Always test the workflows in your own store before using them in production.
